Re: Sailing in offshore winds

the only reason I went out was that my ARC would totally depower and I could swim it in against the wind--something an inflato would not do. My inflato friend told me this morning that what I said was not true, that a deflato totally depowered on the leash just like an arc and that they could have ...

North have acknowledged that the Rhino2 is a bit too deep in the luff curve in all but the biggest sizes. The major changes in the R3 are as follows:
- Shallower luff curve
- Narrower struts and leading edge. Rigid connection between struts and LE
- Aerodynamic, batten-less wing tips

"Jelly-fishing", "Tips in-and-out", "wobbling"... Whatever you call it, it is directly related to High AR-Kites. Wrong. The major determinant of jellyfishing is the "luff curve." Flat luff curve kites like the X3 and original prototypes of the Lift pro sit way forward in the window. The further for...

In terms of durability, ram airs and inflatables have similar lifespans. If you want evidence of the "exploding" problems with rams, check out the thread "Flysurfer Warriors Exploding." With a reverse launch bridle, inflatables are ok on snow (not as good as rams, but ok). Inflatables are vastly sup...

Re: PKRA

WHY TO NAME THE POST "SHINN IS LOOSING"? I agree marcos. A better title would be "RAM AIRS CRASH IN AUSTRIA." 5 months ago, ram lovers like sq, teddy b, adres santa, etc PROUDLY stated that, because of the Psycho, ram airs would DOMINATE in 2003. Well boys, the jury has delivered the verdict. Ram a...

Peter... I normally think you're spot on with your postings.... But: The most important determinant of jellyfishing is the luff curve of the kite. A flat luff curve will cause the kite to sit way forward in the window - extreme forward position in the wind window causes jellyfishing. Other variables...

Fluorescent coloured canopies last a lot longer.

Colours that reflect UV (eg white, yellow) rather than absorb it (eg dark blue, green, black) have a MUCH longer lifespan.

Thanks Ari. For the entertainment of the readership, I've reposted the top 11 reasons for getting an inflatable: Inflatables are vastly superior to ram airs because of: 1: Lift to drag ration (L/D) - The highest L/D ratio is not always optimal. A high L/D ratio is critical in large kites because the...
