Re: Best bankrupt?

Best are still trading and I believe have new designs on the drawing board. Thanks, they make quality gear and hope they stick around. Was never a fan of the flying dolphin graphics though. The performance of eleveight kites shown in videos has got my attention. Sorry to hear Best lost their design...

Re: Best bankrupt?

Correct, BEST did not purchase the bow kite patents, they were purchased by a holding company owned by Javier, who owns Best. https://kitesurfingmag.com/north-kiteboarding-signs-up-for-kite-patent/ but other than that you're flat out wrong. Cabrinha, Neil Pryde do/did owe them money and North did e...

Re: washing the kite after use make the difference?

I remember seeing this article on The Kiteboarder a while back - https://www.thekiteboarder.com/2011/08/6-tips-to-make-your-kite-last-longer/ I don't think it hurts to rinse a kite with fresh water occasionally. For those who don't rinse the kite, how often do you pump up and thoroughly inspect the ...

Re: Bald spots

As long as you don’t wax it in the sun you’re fine. I’d typically wax my board in the shade at outside air temperature anywhere from 70deg to 85deg Fahrenheit. The key is building a base. If you build a base using a diamond pattern you’ll notice much better results than the wax Job shown in the photo.

Re: Bald spots

Any advice regarding the temperature of the board and wax? I live somewhere really warm, so room temperature is more like 25°C, sometimes more. Not sure if warmer wax is easier or harder to apply. Depends on the manufacturer but I think it varies about 5deg C (10deg F). Usually labeled very cold, c...

Re: washing the kite after use make the difference?

Alright, I don’t know about the bubble bath but can agree to an end of season or periodic rinse.

Re: washing the kite after use make the difference?

I rinse salt water off when there is time because it can build up and be abrasive like sand. I have found salt crystals in the bag and on the kite in the past. The key is removing abrasives (especially sand) before packing the kite. Lightly brushing it off, shaking off, or rinsing before packing wor...

Re: Best bankrupt?

If Best is in trouble why isn't there a record of Best (or i guess the legal name Pure Action Sports Worldwide Inc.) filing chapter 7? What's the patent worth when no one pays for it anymore? To give lawyers a boner - JK. I respect the pioneers of this sport and they deserve to be compensated for th...

Re: washing the kite after use make the difference?

I use my kite in both salt and fresh water. I usually wash off the salt water (with fresh water). Also, to prolong the life of the kite I brush off sand and other abrasives (by hand) before packing it away. And pack it dry. One of my kites is 4 years old and canopy is still in good condition - i est...
