Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

I’ve used a Takuma V100 (1245cm2 in area) for surf kitefoiling and it works well BUT it’s so slow (I found it very happy to crawl along 6-8 knots or 12-15kmh, my peaks were in the 20-25kmh without really trying). At TT like speeds I didn’t get any of the usual benefits of a Hydrofoil. I have to ride...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I know 5 people with the Soul now and they are all loving the kite. Downunder, are you really suggesting the airtightness of a foil kite is a potential drawback ? That’s a bit ridiculous ( And what do you mean you wash your kites after salt water ? You do know fresh water is what causes problems rig...

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

Rojbrown, I had the Zeeko spitfire for about 18 months and it definitely likes a bit more speed to start flying. With practice you will be able to ride it slower but this takes time. I found it quite sensitive in terms of setup too - Zeeko publish some recommendations on their website about where to...

Re: Ozone and Flysurfer fanboys, tell me why...

I do agree with you - Ozone makes great kites, as their results testify. I am mainly stoked that we consumers benefit from ongoing development and refinement in soft kites. In 2014 I was the only guy at my spot riding foil kites and now it’s relatively common.

Re: Ozone and Flysurfer fanboys, tell me why...

Funny guy. You can start by checking what rides world champion and that pretty much should tell you why racers are still buying R1V2 that was released in 2016. How many flysurfers released since then? And still inferior to old R1V2. So what you're saying is, *I* could get out there on an R1 and win...

Re: Kitefoiling at the 2024 Olympic games

For the athletes that love kite racing, how is it a bad thing to be able to participate in the Olympic Games as a sailor? I understand what IFKO are saying, but in my country IFKO have no pathway or established infrastructure to support a racing scene - we rely heavily on local sailing clubs to prov...

Re: first time on 5m kite and HF

A 5m Flysurfer Boost 2 and Zeeko foil is my go to downwind foil combo when riding with my SB martes. I use lines between 20 - 36 m lines depending on wind strength. I prefer longer lines actually. Lots of fun. I don't think I work the kite any more than normal, but might need a loop or three to get ...

Re: Foiling. What next?

As the comments above state - getting proficient at turns is next. Before foiling I rode surfboards exclusively for years and generally would just do a regular 10km downwinder with the crew a few times a week. I started riding the foil on the same run (so in ocean, with surf and shorebreak) and this...

Re: What's the dumbest thing you have seen a newbie do?

BWD, ah...no! That method works fine on a wide open beach, but some launches are damn tight. You really think you should be telling guys who have kited for many years where they need to stand to launch a kite? You gotta be F-ing kidding me... That is such a pet peeve of mine - kiters telling their ...

Re: Hyperlink size recommedation

You should checkout the new Flysurfer Soul. Cheaper (in my market at least) and some might say a more refined competitor to the Hyperlink.

Smoother top skin and profile
Adjustable mixer
Self draining dirt-out channels
LCLs for easier repair
