Making launch safer - learning from the experts

I am reading this forum and trying to learn the best way to launch the kite. I like ideas proposed by PullStrings: All that talk about the rider and signs to give the OK !! That's not how i operate if someone needs help to launch I first have a talk on how i will do it....and if they don't agree...t...

Re: Ozone Edge for beginners

Sounds like you are in the San Diego area, steady 8-9 knots daily thermals with nice ground swell waves. I would stick with the big kite and Nugget, they will serve you well once you get past the learning stage. Learning in light wind is much harder though, but you make do with what you've got. Do ...

South Padre Island foiling

Is it possible to foil in the Laguna Madre (from north or south flats) on a short mast (60 cm)? How shallow is it? I am still learning to foil and can water start and do short rides both ways flat on the board.

Re: 7, 9 and 12 for a 100kg twintip rider

My twintip is Cabrinha Ace 141x43, most used kite is 10m. I used 8m three times this year in the winds > 25kts. I can use 12m starting from 14kts to stay upwind. My kites are all Slingshot Rallys. The wind range I kite the most is 18-28kts. I just want to see how to properly scale the quiver when yo...

7, 9 and 12 for a 100kg twintip rider

Assuming that good quiver for a 75kg twintip rider is 7, 9 and 12, what is the corresponding quiver for a 100kg? I am thinking it should be: 8, 10, 13.

Re: My Beginner Journal

I suggest to try landboarding while you are learning to fly the kite. Buy a small 4 line kite with harness for static flying. I would look at Pansh foil kites - I bought 6m Genesis and use it to practice static flying in the winter and for landboarding. Flying the kite while standing on the mountain...

Personally, I like the posts by MM and enjoy following the links that he provides in his posts. He provides an alternative point of view and non traditional way of thinking. I hope we can kite at the same beach one day.

Re: 12m or 14m Slingshot Rally for 200 lbs riders ??

I am 215lbs and I have Slingshot Rally kites: 8m, 10m, 12m. When it is 12-14 mph wind I am using Spleene Monster Door (165x50), above that my normal board is 146 cm and I don't need anything bigger then 12m to go upwind.
