Re: Raceboard bottom shape

No. The last section is somewere in the middle. Mid section is 0,5 meter from the nose. And the highest is the tip.
Will you go with 10 cm rocker in the nose?

Re: Raceboard bottom shape

Does anybody tried a rounded bottom shape in the front? Somethink like that in the cross section picture. It is a compromise between flat and vee. It would prevent from steering and reduce impact.

Re: Race board availability!

There is a huge amount of acceleration up and down as Handy pointed. It results a pure drag. In addition Kite and fins are lifting too (decreases board surface load) . So +1 kg board weight could be as bad as +5 kg rider.

Re: Building fins

Johnny, do not use clay for your mold. If you don't like to use aluminum for separation plane you can do similar think as in the video but more precise. Take Aquapour powder mix with water and sink the half of the waxed fin into it. Let it cure. Apply gelcoat on top + some glass reinforcement layers...

Re: Building fins

Chopped strand mat is not an option for demanding applications however most twin tip fins are made with chopped fibers and resin. Exoterm is not an issue for small fin casting. You can use infusion epoxy resin if viscosity is an issue. Racing fins are totaly different world. Autoclave cured unidirec...

Re: Building fins

Hi, check your wax expiration date... I have faced the same problem in the past and lost one mold. Best results can be achieved using wax systems. There is no need to wax the mold every cycle. 2-5 parts can be made in one application. Follow the mold preparation procedure: http://www.finishkare.com/...

Re: First board - need help

The lighter the wind the less rocker you need. Everything from 1,5cm to 4cm will work. Even 0 cm will be ok. Make the line continous. There is a nice calculator online for rocker calculation if a CAD software is not available: http://www.handymath.com/cgi-bin/arc18.cgi?submit=Entry enter 150cm board...

Re: Some boards I made

Guess why the rocker line is so deep on wakeboards? Its not all about the drag here. Also you can take an old thick foam core rigid twintip and compare it against the same shape soft wood core twintip. Any differences in drag? - minor. Any differences in "feeling"? - huge... Human body is a part of ...

Re: First board - need help

If you dont want to jump you could really build a wooden board ~20 mm thickness. It will definitely soak up water and the initial weight will increase from 3kg to 5kg... There is a trick. Try to make a bottom from 4mm plywood and 15mm wood strips on top. Glue it on 5 cm continuous rocker table witho...
