I just flush my lines with fresh water from time to time - mostly to wash the sand off but the salt goes along nicely as well. I see no need to pour a weak acid over my lines to see how they are holding up that treatment.

On my side of the planet salt dissolves in water really well. My guess is that you dissolved something different.
