Re: 12 m2 for foil and boosting

all this discussions about wind speed since 10+ years...... I had a good session about 10 + years ago where 20 people watched me doing this: - ok no real good session but kiting and going slowly upwind, being the only one out with my "pischgotti" door style board 170 x 45, my weight 94 kg, kite JN w...

@foilholio

your post seems to be very optimistic to me. i just had a 12 m flysurfer speed 5 testkite with me for the last holiday. VERY cool kite but: on 2 days with very gusty cross offshore and 40 degree shifting winds I was very very busy getting the thing up on an even beach, and I spent pretty much time u...

something to laugh

just to give all of you something to laugh: the day when I said goodbye to foilkites (more or less): About 4 years ago, August, great weather, water 24 degrees, no risk for health or anything, hundreds of sailing boats around. It was a very gusty day with wind from ENE wich just comes over the mount...

@mig27

"And if you crash your kite, the FS speed 5 has the best properties to get it back up again in low winds. Well done Flysurfer!" yes and no the chance to tangle a foilkite when falling down in a lull is much higher than with a LEI kite the chance of tangling a foilkite in the air at marginal + turbul...

Re: 12 m2 for foil and boosting

Dear Ulrik, First: I know what front tube collapsing is, I know it from my old Wainman Bunnies 1.0 which I had for 5 years until last year, they sometimes collapsed in very high wind in some situations. Pumping really hard helped. My weight is 96 kgs. No, I personally did not have any similar experi...

As described 80 cm may work but already suck, 2 foot will be absolutely nonsense.

Sorry, but this is the truth

Re: User friendly first foil / board?

sorry, my mast ist 95 cm and I can not imagine to go with a 80 cm experts are now sailing 105 at races sometimes 2 foot is 60 cm...forget it sorry. waste of time + energy IMHO better look for days with not too much wind and waves on the ocean side, once you're out, its not that hard with the waves. ...

Re: User friendly first foil / board?

like often discussed her a short mast does NOT make it easier: main problem with learning to foil is the dolphin style up and down caused by lack of control. when you get too far out, the front wing sucks air, the uplift breaks down and you crash. this is the reason for 95 % of all foilboard crashes...

@Ulrik

hello, if you keep the LF 12: great kite, I had one for testing for some weeks, IMHO best solo kite for foiling. like I wrote before, you should take boosts 7+ 9, I'm sure that the boost 11 is much too close to the LF 12. I know that the LF 12 has a very very good lowend, but you will find that the ...
