Re: Swap Gong Allvator & Moses Fluente

So how is the quality of the new Gong foils? How is the weight? Have they abandoned the idea of carbon struts completely? The line-up of foils makes perfect sense to me. The concept seems to be based on the Go-Foil design. Their commitment to a comprehensive product line is impressive - assuming the...

Re: New pro Gong foil wings?

Just my personal thoughts. I believe projected area is comparable with other brands area measurements. From my own calculations...I might be wrong.. The surf M is 1243cm2. 70cm The Surf pro M is a bit more than 1000cm2. 69cm The Surf Pro L is around. 1200cm2 77cm The Surf pro XL is around. 1880cm2 ...

^ same here with M-size gong surf classic foil. Never been able to carve to toeside or ride toeside(in 2.5 years..), but with gong I was able to do it at the first try! Everything is so easy with this setup..

Re: Kiteboarding article in New Yorker

My memories of Don Montague. My first trip to Cabarete in 1987. During my stay there they held the first edition of the Cabarete windsurfing pro-am. I signed up for the "amateur" event along with a motley crew of varied ability levels. There were about 30 "pros" registered. Among them was Montague -...

Re: As a beginner when can i start trying to hydrofoil?

And wear a helmet, remember with hydrofoiling the board/foil is alot more dangerous than the kite. Geez! I think people with a lot of experience kiting aren't appreciating the limitations of someone who only has a few kiting sessions behind them. When you're not an experienced kiter the kite remain...

Re: As a beginner when can i start trying to hydrofoil?

My theory based on my learning is that too much twin tip and surfboard experience can hurt as much as help. It may be true that muscle memory from TT & SB riding is something that needs to be overcome when learning to foil ... however, having little or no experience of riding while flying a kite is...

Re: As a beginner when can i start trying to hydrofoil?

What Sharkey said. To learn to foil you really need to be able to control the kite instinctively - without having to think about it. I am dubious that 15 sessions kiting puts you in a position to start foiling. Second to having very good kite control is having the appropriate conditions: 12 - 15 kno...

Re: Dorian Threatening Outer Banks

I think it's unprecedented for an area to be pummelled by a Cat. 4 or 5 hurricane for two days. It's not surprising the devastation is so bad. It must have been a terrible experience to live through.

Dorian Threatening Outer Banks

The forecast is starting to look pretty serious for the Outer Banks with winds projected to be gusting to 100 knots. Stay safe !
