I'm in Santa Barbara (& not very experienced) but I've seen a lot of guys out at County Line (right at Neptune's Net on PCH if you don't know the spot) on windy afternoons. Check it out when the wind finally returns. Last couple weeks have sucked!!

I took lessons, was taught how to self launch and land. Landing isn't much of a problem. Self launched only the one-time in lessons and it worked okay although was a bit scary as it was a bit of a hot launch and had some power- wind was 20 knots on 9m Switchblade . OK - so probably a dumb question, but if there are only 2 kiters and neither knows how to self launch, once one kite is launched what's the 2nd guy do?

Wearing board shorts over a wetsuit is lame. A lot of guys do it at my beach & I have no idea why. It looks lame and doesn't serve a logical purpose. 20 years of surfing in wetsuits & I've never worn or had reason to wear board shorts over them.

Anybody out there using Gath helmets? I'm considering this helmet. I've used it in the past as a lifeguard on a PWC.
