Re: 4 or 5 lines?

Did anyone else notice that the kites were pointing away from the direction of the animated wind--and that the kiters were travelling in the same direction as the wind? Clearly the animation was done by someone who's never kited, and appears to not have even taken a look at any kiting videos to try ...

Re: Has anyone built a pond to kite on?

Shawn, you're certainly enterprising! Back in the 90s when I was big into windsurfing I dreamed about asking Jerry Coughlan if I could use the reservoir pond at Deer Creek . Then I got into kiting, and thought it'd be a good idea for a kite school. Maybe just go out to Pickering and see how long bef...

Re: New board for someone from wakeboarding background

Is there a reason you're looking for one board to do everything? I still have my 'beginner' board (142x42cm 2011 Nobile NBL) which I use when there isn't quite enough power for my high-wind TT (135x37cm 2012 Ocean Rodeo Mako). Having the choice between the smaller board to hold down a slightly overp...

Re: Laying out lines: Upwind or Downwind?

I'll use whatever method works best for the launch. When I'm snowkiting, or on a beach with only a sandbag for an anchor I use what I'm going to call the 'there and back again method' (it also works well for thin beaches, or those with rocks or shells) which is similar to the 'J' method mentioned el...

Re: How I waxed my Chicken Loop line

While I'm sure windyway's method worked for him, I think it's too much messy work compared to using bowstring wax as I mention in my replies to this other thread about waxing depower line.

I have no idea how candle wax would perform in cold weather, but the bowstring wax has been great.

Re: Get a knot out of kite lines

Indeed, a smooth surface, a hammer and some water-based lubricant is probably the least destructive way to get a knot out or your lines. As g0nz0 says, just keep rotating the knot and tapping it with the hammer. It takes a matter of seconds.

But hey, whatever works. :)

Re: Xensr - first run out of the box..

Weren't they using this device for the measuring the Red Bull King of the Air jumps? I'd really like to know how well this works and if anyone is using it with Android software. :?: Yes, they used 'em at KotA this year. As far as I understand it, they're shipping the one which plugs into your iPhon...

Re: Alternate choices (cheaper then Speeds) for light wind

Matthieu how does the Aurora15 jump? Height, glide? Any concern on stability/invert/bowties if mess up the jump or the landing in gusty air? What's hi and low wind range for 200lb (90kg) on a surfboard? I'm intrigued. You didn't read my 'review' then, huh? It's impossible to speak to the stability ...

Re: Alternate choices ( cheaper then Speeds ) for light wind

What I've read reports of Pansh kites - don't bother. Few reviews have said there ok Their very tempting considering the 22m will only cost you $779 which I think is around 600 pounds in the uk. Very cheap compared to the 21 flysurfer http://www.panshkite.com/index.php?gOo= ... oductname= Any opini...
