Re: line length for Hfoiling in >15 knots

20m lines for everything for me. Seems to work fine for my foil kites. Bridal length is extra but have never measured them.

Re: Used foil market

Yeah I tried to sell my spotz2 with really nice Delta board for $1200 and slowly dropped price over a few months. Finally sold for $950. Not selling my Spotz 2. Like it a lot. It does everything that I want it to do. Eventually, we all change our gear though. It was just that I realized one could g...

Used foil market

For those looking to buy a foil and board, There have been some terrific buys on the used market recently.
Spots 2 with board for about $900 to 1200USD.
Not much more than a China knock off plus cost of a board.

Re: Which GPS

A number of us here in LaVentana have the Garmin Fenix 3HR. I paid about $500USD but with a new model out, I see they are down to $400USD. Relatively easy to use. I like it a lot. As far as accuracy, don't know. How would I check it anyways? Good enough for me especially if the speed reads a bit hig...

Re: How slow can you go?!

walking speed as I carry my foil to the water. So that is about 1.5 knots! Just joking. I am not a racer but don't see the point of going slow. Foil designers spent years developing low drag, efficient foils to go slow? At least once every session ( unless it I am overpowered ) I turn onto a broad r...

Re: Gybes while up on the Foil

And here I thought you were supposed to fall into the water on each jibe attempt. almost two years later and I am still falling in 50% of the time on my on the water jibes ( non foiling ). Getting really good with my water starts though. Will keep trying as I have never had so much enjoyment on the ...

Re: foil kite twist

Thanks everyone. It is amazing how much information is out there! Had a really nice 9m session yesterday foil on foil. Didn't put the kite in the water. Getting used to the more continual lift. Spent a long time watching the "experts" here in LaVentana. On their foil tacks and jibes, the board doesn...

foil kite twist

There I was just foiling along in about 13mph having a great day. Screwed up an on the water jibe. The foil kite went down. No problem except it now had a twist ( an hour glass in my old spinnaker sailing days ). Worked on it for a while but eventually rolled up the lines and then tried to roll up t...

downside of smaller foil kites?

I now have 11m and 9m Elf kites.
Would like a smaller one but seem to recall comments about smaller foil kites being more difficult to fly.
Lots to learn already with foil on foil.
Nice to get rid of the kite pump though.

Re: 15m Elf Joker 7

A big thank you for your detailed thoughts on your first session.
Interesting that you found it heavier. I would have thought that all the racing foil kites are becoming lighter.
Thinking about the 11m Elf Joker 7.
Any photos? Let us know how the subsequent sessions on it feel.
