Re: Gong High Aspect wings

I just find the Gong line a bit overwhelming to try to navigate. I want a single medium to high aspect foil to replace my SS Infinities and am consider a Fluid XL setup or going to a Phantasm PTM 926. I rode a Kujira 980 recently and loved it, but I was in unusually high wind. The Gong website doesn...

Re: How difficult are the various foiling discplines?

I started with kitefoiling before getting in to windfoiling and wingfoiling. I have tried wakefoiling too. Kitefoiling is definitely the hardest, as an an accomplished kiter I felt like it was like riding a unicycle and juggling, there's just so much going on with kite control. Windfoiling was a cin...

Re: conspiracy theory: no way wings should be so expensive

Here are my random thoughts: There does seem to be a ridiculous mark-up on wings, especially here in Canada where the shops know the consumer has very few options. These shops seem to know winging is where the growth is and are milking it as much as they can. It'll never be a mainstream sport though...

Re: Slingshot Hover Glide FWing Set Up

You're gonna get a bunch of different answers here. For me I use the long fuselage with the C position and the whole foil slammed far back in the tracks. I run it this way because I use the same foil for windfoiling on a different board and mast and don't want to always be dicking around moving the ...

Re: Wing sizing in a two wing quiver

Depends on your local winds. Get a 4/6 if you don't like riding in low winds or if you don't have low winds very often. If you live somewhere with garbage wind like I do, I'd go with the 7/4.5 suggestion made earlier in the thread. I ride a 4/6 combo, but also windfoil when it's lighter as it's way ...

Re: Rocker Modification for early takeoff

Here's a picture of what I put together using a wedged strip open cell foam that is used for shipping stuff, and some Gorilla Tape. I doubt the tape will last too many sessions, but sometimes Gorilla Tape surprises me. I may not know for a while how good this works as it's only ever windy when I am ...

Unlike most brands that are trying to make their wings as rigid as possible, glad to see that they are actually implementing the windsurfing concept which allows the sail to flex in the tips and spill wing in the gusts. More range and control!

Re: Shortest lenght boards that pack large volume?

What would be the smallest, lightest, strongest inflatable? Any ideas would be good, thanks. I am thinking that I might use it also for very light wind days for kiting (if I end up without wind a bit far from shore, I can pack the kite and "swim" ashore with a bit more flotation? They are all stron...

Re: Slingshot Foil Compatible With North Board?

It should mostly work just fine as manufacturers use the same width between bolts. That said where you could encounter issues is with fore and aft setup as some foils have longer fuselages than others and the c of g difference cannot be accommodated by sliding the foil forwards or back enough in the...

Re: Predict a Flurry of rotator cuff and related shoulder injuries associated with wing foiling

I tore the hell out of my left rotator cuff a couple years ago and since learned to wing. Surprisingly winging caused no issues, even after days in a row on end, possibly because it's such a static exercise.
