RRD Airtype 16 ? good low wind kite

Postby andyb » Mon Jun 16, 2003 9:27 pm

I have an opportunity to buy one of these. I am 72kg, intermediate, riding airush switch 156. Will this be a good low wind kite for me? Is it fairly easy to use, relaunch etc? ie not like the supertypes. I get my storm 12m out when the wind fills in

Great performance, great relaunch, very nice kite. The 19 is also awesome but has alot of low end so if it picks up there may be a hole between your 19 and the12 you have. Happy kiting.
Aloha Royce.

Nice kite, range is probably between 13-23. I rode it thursday, and it was a nice kite, but it certainly didn't blow my mind. I never really got great pop.

Never tried relaunch though.

If its a good deal, go for it.

Good Winds

delivers all what most intermediate/advanced want-good wind range, easy manoeuverability, usual rrd build quality and a good bar system, much better than last years supertype.real sweet allrounder which is what we all want. the human size boards are a great range also.

13-23?! knots or mph? Sounds just like the range of my 12m storm.
Is there a bit of low end grunt in the airtype or is it more like the airblast style high end bias?
Thanks for your advice guys

for your weight on the 16 you could make progress upwind in 09 mph you'll probs be wanna change down at around 16mph.it'll perform for you at both ends of its windrange, thats why its a good allrounder. at the bottom end of its wind range it turns real quick at the very edge of the wind window, always a good sign on a big kite.
