which quick release

Hi Guys,

Yes I'm one of those kiters that do not use a quick release because I think I'm experienced enough not to need one. However, in light of the recent discussions on this forum I think it is about time I started using one. I don't really know much about these quick releases so I would really appreciate receiving a few suggestions.

In case it makes any difference, I'm currently using AR5s, ARXs, ABs, and a Rhino.

May be you can purchase one of the new Naish loops for your bars.

did anyone see any Solid product anywhere in the world yet?
I think the quick release from solid is quiet good, but only saw an article in the KITE mag, but nowhere in the stores and no-one ever reported in this forum seeing one nor owning.

Hi,
I was thinking of buying one. But as a "beginner" i do not like to kite with a fixed depower loop. So The pro version of solid looked good. But then i realy wondered if this hook releases the chickenloop very well. The angle this hook makes when released looks very weird and i can imagine that the loop does not release in any position.

Any comments or experience ???

Solid had two pictures of this hook - one on the website and one in the KITE mag.
An engineer showed us that the one on the web doesn't open since it has a 90 degrees abgle where the loop won't release. The one in the mag would open, since it doesn't have this angle.

I had the comp, but sold it on, as I didn't need it (I have the Axelair).
It looks very well made, the only problem is the key ring you open the quickrelease with. The guy I sold the hook on to had to release and the ring bent open - highly dangerous!!!!

A good system , in my opinion, is a hook that completly releases. When using this safety system your hook is gone.
You only use it in a emergency though?
You should be able to buy spares for a good price.

Yes I did - as SOLID is located just few kilometers from my home lake. Looks like on their homepage and works properly - I´ve seen it in action ! Unfortunately those guys weren´t prepared for the demand, they´re more a small dedicated custom board loft. Hope they´ll licence some bigger brands soon !

I guess that´s also an issue for a widely distributed and properly working safety system: various patents not available to the increasing number of kite manufacturers - and new solutions getting more and more expensive effecting competetiveness - and that´s all they´re going for ..
