Just a list of banned or restricted areas might be a good idea. The actual area, the type of restriction or bann and the reason, incident or complaint that caused it. In this way we could all see the cause and effect without any biased input. It should have only factual information such as dates and who imposes the bann and enforces it. It should list the penalties for violations as well. ALL these bits of info might be hard for every location but there should be SOME info for all the areas in question. Just a thought.

That may be true in some areas, but in others, where people have NOT followed the guidelines, they are being FORCED upon us all (or outright bans imposed) in the form of ticketable offenses.

Luke its not BS, right in your own backyard there are many launches where kiteboarding is banned, there are also lost of areas where bugying is banned too, check out the facts, ask around.

To all the experienced, regulars here, who are complaining about Ricks posts, they are not for you :!: :)
Rick posts mainly for the hundreds of people that just read these forums, who never sign in or post, the ones quitely doing research with a view to getting into the sport, and for that I thank Rick, and encourage him to keep it up. :thumb:

It would have been nice if this guy had tuned in for some of the tedium in the past, particularly since this happened yesterday at a launch about 20 miles south of me. Maybe next time.

From a post by Brett on the FKSA list:

"On Thursday some hotshot shows up and probably without the benefit of
one lesson tries to go out in 16-22 ESE mph with a Cabrina 12 meter.
The kite is up for all of 5 seconds, gets sent into the power zone,
gets teabagged over a garbage can headfirst into the wood fence.
Hotshot leaves in an ambulance.

Moral of the story:

If you see someone that is going to jeopordize his life, your riding
spot, or the safety and welfare of onlookers, STOP HIM in his tracks.
It might be entertaining to watch, but a kitemare's affect can last a
lifetime on your conscience.

Be smart, read the posts that Rick posts on here to become familiar
with what can go wrong and how to best possibly handle the situation.
Hotshot guy that takes an hour to set up and goes directly for a
launch in the window needs to be stopped and told to go take lessons
before he kills someone or himself like he almost did yesterday."

Lots of good lessons in this story and taking some of the potential hazards of this sport seriously would be a good starting point. There are still other precautions but we all know what those are so there is no point in going into them yet again, is there? Good thing accidents are on the "decline" otherwise, we might have cause for concern.
