Last years Element 6 by Switch came in a 3m and 4m size, and currently they are still available new, $445 USD. I have both (and the 5m), use them for foiling in high winds (20+, surf wing, 150lbs), and have no complaints with how they fly and their construction.

"What 3-4m kite flies best?" - That's a loaded question. Perhaps you mean - 'Which small surface area kite will stay in the sky below 20kn'

I own a 6m Epic renegade and when I was new to kiting it would get me up and riding in as low as 23kn. Now, I weigh roughly 185lbs so it's hardly applicable.

My opinion is maybe maui should explore using a shorter line setup on whatever small kite his daughter is currently flying. Additionally, a smaller board would also help in this scenario. Perhaps even a combination of both.

I really don't think there's a magic kite that will solve this problem.

3.5 Kahoonas and 3m Rally GT needed plenty of wind to fly. They would backstall in lighter winds and wouldn’t be great choice for being a trainer because the depower range would be so tiny between backstalling and having loose rear lines. Neither of foil with them.

4m Viron I had would be ok as trainer but I never actually rode with it. In my opinion it would feel a bit sketchy flying a foil kite in nuking winds

4m Ghost I rode is very good but turning radius (when powered) is high so you end up flying through center of wind window a lot. When turning from edge of wind window or zenith - it turns better.

4m SST flies great in lightwind (besides flying amazingly well in high winds) and would do great as trainer, small foiling wing or a kite for light riders.

The blade tiny beast seems to be designed exactly for that
They make 4 and 6m

“Some people are born ready, so why let them wait? That’s exactly what got us to create the Tiny Beast, an agile kite for kids who just can't wait to get out there. This is not your average high winds mini-kite though. The Tiny Beast was carefully designed for light and moderate conditions, performing well from 10 knots and up. Its unique shape allows for maximized stability and effortless relaunch in lighter winds, while an increased depower level ensures the safety of the young riders. There is no doubt the Tiny Beast is the perfect kite for any boy or girl making their first steps in the kitesurfing world. Make sure you take a good look at them now, because you might be looking at a future star.”

I'm looking for a good option for my kid, he is 8yrs old and weights about 65 lib. I'm from Argentina, we mostly kite in lagoons with light wind to medium. Something ranging from 10 - 17knots.
I was thinking on getting a 4m kite, but someone here with more experience says those small kite wont fly well on light winds and I should get a 6m instead.
What doy you guys suggest for a newcomer kid ?
Thanks
