Wrapped moves, Anyone tried them?

Postby 72kiteboarder » Thu Aug 18, 2005 3:00 pm

I tried a couple wrapped moves yesterday and thought it would be fun if I can figure an easy way to get wrapped. Anyone figured an easy way to do it?

I've thought about it, it seems like one of the more risky things to do with a kite though. Don't get the lines around your arm, harness ect.

Yeah, its one of those things, try & get it wrapped & the damn thing always unrolls as you squeeze the air out the other side.

Hey 72:

This is obvously the wrong forum to address this issue. The folks on here are in the dark ages.

The only wrapped moves in kiteboarding that I know of happen at the END of the move instead of at the beginning of the move like you would do in wakeboarding.

If you are pulling off normal blind landings (unhooked naturally). Try riding in the other direction but still rotating the same way with the same handlepass rotation; this is essentially wrapped.

Dre does tons of these moves in METROPOLIS. Or check the Aussie KITEBOARDER mag volume5, issue1. Best example of a wrapped move is the Method olay 7 (throwing a back roll 720 with front hand heel side grab); he is basically landing fully on heel side to finish the 7 but with his back hand on the bar instead of the front hand; this makes it a wrapped bar landing. Then he just passes the bar to the other hand to ride out of the move. FUKINSIK.

Example:
Put your left hand behind your back, pull bar over to right side of body and grab bar with left hand(still behind back). jump and do a frontside 360. when you land your arm will un-wrap and there will be no twists in lines and no handle pass either.

I dont understand how you will end un-wrap without ever release one hand of the bar. :o
