santorini has basically got 2 windsurf spots (summer time)
both close to the airport (north shore)..
paradise beach up-wind, sandy but crowded and rocks down wind
not sure if kiting is allowed (I know from windsurfing). Wave spot.
one other spot with a surf center, a couple of miles down wind with tipical rounded stones beach. Choppy. May be just a little off shore wind.
then the wind gets off shore and you mainly get strong winds (meltemi)
Both spots are close to KAMARI village (left looking at the sea).
Easy to find nice furnished apartments close to the spots.
Not sure if it's worth to bring kiteboarding stuff, never tested

i go there every year for the last 8 years (not for kiting).
last year i took my stuff along. there is a good spot (i think the only spot on the island) on the side of the airport. if you are lucky you can find some good small size waves too.
in the summer the winds are pretty regular, but there is always the chance of sitting on the beach...

if you are going july or august take a 12m or smaller as Meltemi winds blow all over the Aegean Sea, if you go b4 take a 12 and a 16 or similar sizes.
You can kite near the airport or in other beaches where the beach is flat, keep in mind that nearly half the island a cliff, volcanic soil and beach sand.
Also you can take a boat ride to Paros and spend a night there, if i am not misteken about 5 hours away. They usually leave early 7-8am so you can go to Punda beach in Paros, kite , see the island and the next day kite again and take the boat back to Santorini in the evening, I did that when i was there last, the only problem in paros was that there was nuke winds, in excess of 40knts and we just sat in the cafe watching windsurfers having a blast!!

Can anyone provide updated information on kiting in Santorini? Might have a trip planned (not really for kiting but hope to get in a session or two). Plan to be there in May or june. Is there wind during this time of year? Will likely need to rent gear. Saw a place that will rent daily at €150. Appreciate any info, thanks!
