I completed a detailed account of where to kite on the big island of Hawaii. You can find it by searching for "big island hawaii" in the search bar, or hit this link.

Contrary to what a lot of people say, kiting on the big island is not lame at all. There are some sketchy spots, and if yo ucannot stay upwind, you may need some help landing, but you should be fine.

It is nothing like Maui, or even any other island, but if you are there, you can still kite. It ranges from sketchy (A-bay) to wicked sketchy (black sand beach). Hilo would be the safest place, but try A-Bay on a west wind. Money style.
