At 165lbs I'm thinking of getting a 16m--12m and a 9m Wahoo. My question is about the differents between the 16m and 14m, low end and the speeds of the kites to generate apparent wind. Also is the 14m too close to the 12m to get both.

If your going to get 3 Waroos then you should go for the 16, 12, 9m combo. The 12 and 14 are too close in size to get the right overlap. I am 185 lbs. and can ride the 16m on a skim in 6 knots. You mat be able to use a twintip in close to the same.

It all depends on where you live but if you have some really cranking days, then at 165 I'd go 16, 12, 7 and you'd not only be set for just about all conditions but save a little money too.

If you were a bit heavier, I would recommend 20, 12, 9. However, at your weight the 16, 12, 9 should be a good setup.
Shameless plug - I am selling my 16M Waroo for $750, because I have a 20, 12, 9. I don't really need the 16, so I am selling.
