Slingshot 2007 Stuff

Postby GraemeF » Fri Jul 14, 2006 7:36 am

Link to UK

There's so much flack on this site, its kind of difficult to know which thread to post on, so the above link, which I'll post some pics on just as soon as I find my USB lead and hitch my camera up.

If any of y'all from here are in the Gorge, I'd love to hook up, put a face to a name, its often a good way to realise that internet persona's do not always bely the reality.

Any how I finally got a ride on a Link today, and it really is a nice kite, first of the true hybrids.

We rode it bridled and fifth lined which is one of its features, so its kind of two kites in one. Designed for afficiandos of both methods, and it delivers totally different feel depending which you use.

The pics leaked are of a Fuel proto, this is being developed to give the high end guys something different to hang their hat on, it has some logic to it, as will become apparent when its use and target audience is defined, fully briefed and unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. Its not as stupid as it might appear, think stealth and swept wing fighter aircraft and pulling large G forces in high speed turns.

Anyhow, I'll try and keep an eye on both threads, but there really is such a silly element here that spoils the simple truth of what's going on in the real world. Its a torrent of disinformation from one wannabe company and there are times when it does make you wince that so many folk get taken in by it.

Whatever, its just a shame there's no extradition treaty between the states and Brazil

So does mean it's a bruno licensed bow derivative or a non-licensed SLE type? Does it carry that bruno sticker?

You know I seriously hope not, I think that guy did the world a serious disservice, but I'll have a look tomorrow and check.

Key thing with the Link though it really is a hybrid in that it can be flown bridled OR 5 line, they were doing it today, so wether that means it should be licensed or not I'm not totally sure.

What, inventing the tubekite?

You think things would be better if we were all flying Ram Airs?

Slingshot designer guys, love the batwing/fuel thing, it's always great to see some radical ideas realised, hope it works! :thumb:

OMG how dare you disrespect the inventor of the Inflated Leading Edge kite and bow design. How terrible of Slingshot, I am selling all my Slingshot gear because I can't stand to be associated with such an inflamatory brand... blah blah blah...

You know, now and then things just change..

I think this Link will seriously settle the Bow v C discussion.

It has such advantages both ways.

Having the airframe structure it has, gives true C five line performance even to the point they've cancelled the Octane, and its about as rigid as a bow can get in bridle mode, (given you pump it to 10psi.).

They are talking about a visit to the coast, but I'm sure if any of y'all in the area swing by Stephenson tonite after work you'd probably get to score a ride.

They're all riggin five lines today, it boosts the performance for the guys who want or are used to it, but obviously reduces the depower. Its still there, and sheetable at the bar, but obviously not 100% as it is in bridle mode.

There's a bit more about it on the U.K. link above, and some pictures if you follow the link if you pardon the pun.

I'm off out again now - toodlepip.

EditImageThe Link 15 bridled 5 lines, not sure its quite correct, it has a pitchfork arrangement at the apex.

Oh the other questions, yes I'm sure there will be a Fuel 7 07.

The L.G. thing its just a personal opinion concerning the politics between him and his French designer colleagues, I shouldn't have voiced it, apologies.
