Can contests go somewhere else please?

Postby gideonlow » Fri Sep 01, 2006 7:15 pm

It seems the new marketing/pimping trend is to announce and manage contests on kiteforum.com . I don't know what other's opinions are on this subject, but I think that ALL blatant brand marketing activity should stay out of the main forum.

Cheers,

Gideon

currently are two contest on the site...I don't think it is too much, is it?

And it is also interesting and fun, and users can win.
Of course I make sure it does not get too much, but I don't think it is too much.

Any comments?

I agree get the bull contest out of here. It is not what this forum is about.

As long as there arent more that one or two going on at the same time, and as long as they have something decent as a prize, doesnt bother me. If people start putting up contests for kiteboarding stickers and such id have a problem with it.

i think that up to 3\4 is o.k.
the chance of winning something worthwile is great, especialy for people who arn't that fortunate.

and some of the contests are really entertaining.

I don't mind them on the main forum, (it's easy to not click ona thread with
"contest" or "win" in the title if you don't like contests) but it might be a good
idea to make a "contest" forum instead. They do tend to hog the front page
of the main forum much longer than any other type of thread, except threads
about half-naked chicks ;)

it really doesn't bother me too much, but what if other companies want to use this as a marketing tool? If several companies would do the same, the face of kiteforum would look different. It would also be hard to start 'banning' the contests without getting the you are pro-best stamp that some are already claiming. I am just trying to think ahead...come up with a policy and stick to it... :-)

One solution would be to have no more than 5 running competitions in the main discussion, if one company has more than 1, then they have to yeild if another company wanted to start one....

thx

ok no problem!

we have moved our contest (where you were/are able to win a whole kiteqiver-not just a bag af goddies) to our own forum:

http://www.monkeykites.com/forum/viewto ... =1656#1656

no more problems about win-a-kitequiver posts with us from this point!

have fun
