Rebel 9m2 line adjustments, any tips?

Postby mig27 » Sun Nov 12, 2006 12:21 pm

I own a Rebel 9m2 with the new 25m North 5th bar (2007). I get the impression the line length of the steering lines is way too long.

I have had in 2 session that the kite just falls out of the sky, without any reason.

How much do you have to shorten the rear lines? Any tips?

hidden under the black swimmers at the bar side you will find 3 knots to preadjust the leader lines. Chose the middle one and go 2nd or 3rd knot at the leader´s end. Depends on your size and armlength what your final perfect setting is ending up to be !

I've got the 14m and the 9m too. I'm finding that I have to shorten the back lines by a knot minimum for the 9m compared to the 14, if I don't it falls out the sky and feels really underpowered.

Can't get over the top end of the 9m, was out in 40mph on it yesterday, used the warroo pro in the same session and it didn't have the top end of the rebel.

I already tried to shorten the steering lines one knot further than North says so. I have the feeling I need to shorten them with at least another 10cm or 4"

The depower is massive indeed. But as I said even with the clamcleat set to full power (all the way out) when I fully depower it falls out of the sky.

Check the nose line and pigtail lengths on your kite compared to what is shown at http://www.northkites.com

The Rebel will not fall from the sky. There is something wrong.

Well, I have measured the front pigtails on my 9m2: 69 cm!!!

According to the North website it should be 73cm. Not a spectacular difference, but indeed not correct (or is the website wrong?)

This would mean that I have to shorten the steering lines with one adjustment knot, since these are 5cm apart.

As soon as I have a chance to go out I will test it. I am facing a new problem that I do not want to launch this kite in wind less than 20 knots, because then the fun really begins! 8)

I had a thought that the kites may come set up for people wearing seat harnesses. That way the length would be taken up by the extra distance. Setting up the kite for waist harness users would mean overpowering the seat harness crowd when originally flying. Just a thought.

The only difference with a seat harness compared with a waist harness is that the hook is positioned lower. This means you can handle more depower line length than somebody with a waist harness.

With the 2006 and 2007 bar it is easy to change the lenght of this line, without the need to tie knots. Shorter depowerline means also more length in the cleat (it is the same rope)

This would not affect the length of the steeringlines.

Remove the pigtail from the kite and measure it. Then it will be 3cm longer.

I feel underdone on my nine.

have moved the rear lines a knot closer to the bar, then bar pressure went up too much and kite did not feel right. so put it back then felt underdone.

Any suggestions the 9 is fresh out the bag nothing altered.

It was a 20knot day. i'm 90kg on a 138 board.
