Does anyne know why some people wear their Lycra rash vest on the OUTSIDE of their wetsuit?
What bloody good does it do on the wrong side to protect you from getting a rash?
Or is it done for the same, debatable reason as kitepants?
Sorry to draw attention to you, but here is a random example from the gallery :

hey... yeah looks a little strange. But it's not that uncommon where I am in Spain.
We have a beach that only allows you to kite if you take a safety test and pay for daily insurance/beach rescue, etc. If you pay, you get a certain colour lycra... this way they can tell on the beach who has paid or not.

Just let people wear what they like and the way they like.
Gays discuss what people are wearing and if it looks cool or not
Arfffffff...I shoudn´t even reply for this...

It is obviously just a style thing for people that care more how they look than about comfort or function.
Typically these are the same guys that jump too close to the beach and are often show-offs.
Personally I think it looks stupid to wear anything on top of a wet suit - (boardshorts on the bottom and lycra rash guard on the top), but to each his own.

I completely agree with you SS : each to his own.
I was just seriously wondering if there was some other reason people did it, like reducing wind chill, better flexibility, "containing" their flotation vests etc (many people walk around looking like mutant ninja turtles with vests over their impact vests!).
But ok, I guess it's just dorks riding the image instead of the wave...

Er... I don't wear a rashie on the outside of a wetsuit. But I do wear full length Gin kitepants. The reasons are:
1) I don't want people commenting on my chunky thighs (wetsuits aren't flattering);
2) I don't want to look like a pole surfer;
3) I wear a seat harness and the pants get rubbed away rather than my expensive wetsuit.
4) my kite pants are bloody nice.
So. I think there ARE valid reasons for wearing kite pants. IMHO.

Everyone knows the most stylen thing to wear whilst kite surfing is t-shirt and boardies but not everyone lives in the the Caribbean like me
Let them wear what they like, freedom to express and don't let the style Hitlers stop you.
Fight the power and stick it to the man!

Off subject, but..
Coby,
Did you move from St Lucia to another island? How is it in your new location for living, kiting, etc?

Because if anything goes badly wrong and I end up floating in the water without kite and the lifeboat coming looking for me I would rather be bright yellow against a dark sea than black against a dark sea...

pants..why not?
pros: warmer and less constraining then wet suit
protects your ass in shallow water
etc
cons:
homophobic think it's gay looking.
but:
ps: this was on a cover.
My opp: pants wear them if you want and if people bitch about it, you know they are watching you rip it up!
regarding the the vest: When I have to wear a wet suit, shorty or whatever, I wear shorts over it. The shirt, well, same thing. Just looks better, and makes you feel like rapper or something
