F-one

Postby demon_rider » Sun Jan 07, 2007 3:39 am

Ever considered an Impact or Tribal F-one kite?
They have MAXIMUM depower.
IMpacts are made specificaly for unhooked and kite loops of such.
Tribal=BIG AIR.
Give a look at them at http://www.bayareakitesurf.com
Those kites rock.
(I'd recommend 9 and 13 meters )

The thing that's amazing about the new Sonics is you are getting lots of different kites in one kite with the new AKPO.
I have tried all of the different line settings, and am amazed at how much you can change the kite's behaviour moving them around.
From very light bar pressure and lots of sensitivity to how much you sheet in (ideal for going fast on light wind days), to quite heavy bar pressure with a very stable kite (for wave riding and tricks) but super fast turning if you pull hard on the outside of the bar, this kite has it all.

This is not the same as the '06 Sonics, where you had one or two different connection points, or some of the other brands where you can change the bar from 1:1 to 2:1, this kite allows you change the behaviour in very small increments.
The build quality is also the best I have ever seen, and the one pump works really well.

I would put money on it that some of the other brands will have the same AKPO system on their next range of of kites, claiming it as their "innovation"

Now, after reading a lot of the advice, maybe you should try to get 14 Torch3 and the 9 Boxer SLE, so my setup now is 14 Torch3, 12 Shockwave, and 9 Boxer SLE, I could get away with the 14 Torch3 and the Boxer and cover a wind range of about 11 - 35 mph++ with two boards.

I have ridden the Torch upto 23 mph...wasn't over powered..just really powered. The Torch 12 does turn a lot faster, but doesn;t have the same low end as the 14...that said depending on your weight, you'd get away with the 12 from 15 mph..it turns super fast, and very smooth. Looping it is a breeze...

I have ridden the Boxer 9 up to 35, no problem, I felt it had more too. The Torch is the kite that got me into freestyle and kitelooping this year. For unhooked and looping the torch is uncontested in my book...though the boxer 9 has a lot of grunt and loop easily, it does generally loop with more power, the torch is smoother in that sense....but the boxer works very well. I friend that has been riding c-kites exclusively commented on the fast turning of the 9 boxer, and how much power it had....which is great..I have also set up a freestyle leash on it...took me all of 2 minutes, and 3 feet of q-line. Very nice indeed.

All this talk about the kite, makes me awant to go out and contiune my lastest project, S-bend downloop...easy for the ones who now how to do ti...hard for me..I'm an old man so everything hurt so much ;-)

Hurry up and get your foil board! I wanna see it on the water! But... I understand.... $1995 is a a heck of a lot of money.... That might be more of a pipe dream than a reality..

Mr. Bond,
with 18,000 users & 40 different kite brands, asking this question on this forum does not seem like the best idea as everyone has their own favorite brand.

As with some of the other posts in here, I suggest you find your local dealer, share your desired kite characteristics, & demo as many recommended kites as you can.

30 days cash back return. Here is a review.

Some riders call the 9.5m the one kite quiver for your winds and 145-190lbs.
Ditto...I flew the 12 in 20-30ish winds (220 pounds) and I was amazed by the amount of controllable power...Plus, they are a great company. BoardingBob helped me with a blown bladder and John (the owner) is a great guy.

Very impressed by the WindWing kites (no, I am not on their payroll).
