LF 14m Havoc wind range

Thanks for the help guys. I've ridden my 14m Havoc twice now and I LOVE this kite (might be my favorite). It's much more responsive than I expected it to be. I also picked up a 6m Assault2 and it's AMAZING! I can't believe how FAST it is! I rode it in ~25 mph winds on 3 to 7 foot waves and adamrod is right - it's awesome for the surf. I was slightly underpowered at times in these conditions - just a little more wind (and a little more kiteboarding skill) and I probably could have stayed up wind better. I rigged the 10m havoc and I was able to stay up wind much better. This was my first wave ridding session, so staying up wind was really tough. I was on my 136 recoil.

So here's my take on wind ranges for me at 150 pounds. Take it with a grain of salt and keep in mind that I just started riding this season. With more experience I might be able to extend these ranges.

Between 10 and 18 mph, I'm definitely putting up the 14m Havoc.
Between 17 and 25 mph, I'm putting up my 10m Havoc.
If it's blowing over 25, up goes the 6m Assault2

Hey guys I weigh 61-65kgs and have an 8 and a 12. What size should i get if I want something to use in 25-30knots?

Is the 6 gonna be too close to an 8 or is the 4m gonna be too small?

Anyone tried unhooking a 6m in high winds?.... does it feel twitchy coz of its small size?

the 14m sounds like a dam good kite for light winds
has anyone tried the 15m trix? how does it compair to the 14m havoc?
my 15m trix gets me going in 7 knots too, with an 666 EXT and Im 71kg

so, i weigh 70 kg, and I ride the 6m havoc in around 27-35. It's an awesome kite. super stable, not twitchy, lots of low-end. unhooked is great too. it's really stable in the air, which if you ask me, is what you want in a tiny kite. since you weigh a bit less than me, you MIGHT be able to get by on the 4, but i've never ridden it, so I don't really know

the havoc 6 and 8 are very different kites btw. very little overlap. at 30 knots, the 8 is a handful and the 6 is perfectly comfortable. the 6 havoc is the best kite LF makes.

Sweet. so by little overlap you mean that the 6 will be a great downsize from the 8m?

Do you mean the 07s or the 08 havocs?
Have you tried both to compare with and have you tried the SB2 6m in comparison?

I had a bit of dramas with the 8m when i first got it. Had to shorten the rear bridal lines to make it work. Did you have to do that with the 6m too?

And so what whats the optimal winds for an 8m and a 12 you reckon?

How different is the 8 from the 6? you mean different in terms of handling? Yeah i found the same. the 12 is sweet but the 8 is a lil twitchy and took some getting used to.

Good question a couple of posts ago. Are all of these comments/reviews on the '07? If so, based on what LF is telling us about the '08 (more depower), what changes?
I just ordered a 10/14m combo in the '08 after riding '06 M80s (9/12/16). I'm expecting the have more wind range with the two Havocs and also to have a much better time now that I'm not strapped into a running bull when the wind gusts (been caught out in low/mid 20 kts with my 16m, I'm about 85kg, but still a beginner).
Anyone know about the 2008 Havoc?

The 08 Havoc is an awesome kite
Same minimal bar pressure as the 07
Better depower and greater range
Turns better, flies faster, boosts better and hangs longer
Just as good unhooked as hooked

So, I've only ridden the 07s, but I'll be getting the 08s soon. The major change to the 08 is that they improved the high end. I'm sure there are other improvements, but that's a common thread in all the reviews.

the 6 is a perfect step down from the 8.

with the 8 and 10, (2007), you have to shorten the rear bridle lines (add a 4th knot). With the 6 and 12, the bridles are just fine where they are. It all depends on where you want to ride with the bar and if you want the kite oversheeted when you pull all the way in (for extra boost).

the nice thing about the 6 is that if you take your hands off the bar, it just sits there. Sure, it's really fast (because it's 6m!), but it also doesn't have a mind of its own. If you're looking to ride in the 30 knot realm, you need the 6. For wave riding it's unbelievable.

I have not ridden a 6m SB, but most like the 6m SB will have a bit higher high end and not as good a low end. The 6m havoc is really quite powerful. I'm 70kg and I was powered and going upwind in 23 knots.

What do people think about them after using them for a season?
Good/Bad bits?

Have read they are slow through the air and not very good jumping kites.

I want a fast kite that turns quick, for 10-20 knts
