Boosting in Light Air...

Postby ed257 » Sun Jul 01, 2007 2:45 pm

I think most riders can go 20+ ft in higher winds (25 mph+), but who can can good boost in lighter winds?

In light winds I have to go downwind to get speed, then I send the kite while carving back upwind until liftoff. Is there a better way?

For example, in 10 knots I can only get 1-2 ft.

In 12 knots, I can sometimes get 5 ft.

In 15 knots, I can often get 10ft and occaisionally get 15 ft.

Does anyone have a good technique for boosting in lighter winds? Is there any kite or board combo that really works well for boosting in these conditions?

Maybe just really light riders can boost high in light winds.

I don't see any difference in jumping techniques for lighter winds!

the more wind the higher you get, no technique will change that!

If you want to optimise for jumping in 10 knots than first you need:
LIGHTEST KITE-BOARD COMBO for rider's weight with SKILL dialed in.

If you have all that than its not a mystery anymore to boost 10 - 15 feet in 10.

A flysurfer silver arrow and a rip plus board. With this you can get high and floaty in 10mph.
