nice Hein...would you add some carbon under the pads to increase the overall strength and sort of distribute the load a little more?

This is actually really funny. Yes, it might work, but WHY would you trust it. What are you gaining from this. It's all fun and games until the adhesive gives way. Pay the extra 10 bucks for inserts and put them in your board. Anyone with a surfing background knows that traction decks can peel up. Now add the force of someone's foot pulling it up. GOOD LUCK!

I had a pair of the peel and stick inserts. The lasted 3 sessions before
they came unglued. What a waste of money. I ended up throwing them in the trash

Did you clean the board with alcohol before installing them?

There are 3M adhesives available strong enough to delaminate your board before they would pull off.

Hein, is NSI and SurfTech using the right adhesive? I was planning to try the SurfTech pads soon.

i have had some NSI stick on insert/pads in my shop and the adhesive is not a problem if it is done right. The problems I have seen however are that the brass thread insert devulcanized and it was not possible to remove the srew. I had to destroy several pads/inserts.
The thread is also very short (shallow insert) which means that you have to be extremely careful when using them. Srews tend to get loose, unless you use Locktite or similar products (but then you may have the "devulcanizing insert" prolem).

Have made a few ply-wood boards before I bought my F-ones, so my question is - How well can the pads stick to a home-made ply board ?

Would be a much better option than drilling through the board.

This is a set I've ridden for over a month
in saltwater. I do rinse my board and let
it dry between sessions. Take care with
the installation and you'll have excellent
results. Watch out you don't over tighten
the screws. They need only to be snug.
I lube the screws with a little spit, sunscreen,
or other anti-seize lube. Don't use Locktite.
Switch to shorter screws if the straps get
compressed.

and we'll try to help.
