Speed2 15m2 for (unhooked riding) in 8-13knots?

Postby omg » Sun Jul 22, 2007 4:06 pm

I have a LEI background, but after continued disappointment in light wind 10-13knots with LEIs I decided to check out the other options for my needs where in 8-13knots wind
- I should be able to ride with big and fast board (135x48)?
- I really want to do unhooked stuff in 10 knots and earlier if possible?

so how would the Speed2 15 fill the bill regarding the above listed needs?
Some ppl mentioned that Speed isn't the best for unhooked riding because it can collapse and drop to the water when riding towards it (unhooked riding can cause that when popping against the kite and then thrusting towards it in the air), is this true because some commented that the bigger speed2s are more suitable for unhooking?

And is the 8-13knots possible with my fast freestyle board 135x48cm?

We have flat water and I weigh 78kg, so gaining speed is easy.

thank you for your time and input!

I haven't done much unhooking in that windrange but I can tell you that the Speed2 flies really close to the edge of the window, so it's more suited to "old-school" riding - but the bigger Speed2's have a lot of juice so in light wind they may pop better than something lower-aspect which doesn't have enough power.

However, 8-13kts flat water with a wide & fast board is more fun with the Speed2 than anything else I have seen - nothing else really even comes close on the lower half of that range.

Hi there,

I had a go on 15m speed2 at a fs demo day. Unhooking worked very well. I dosen't fly to the edge of the window like the smaller speed2's, It will just about kiteloop aswell wich suprised me for such a big kit.

Best thing to do is get a demo if you can
