Tuck a impact vest under a seat harness?

Postby wallyman » Wed Oct 17, 2007 1:31 pm

Is it possible to tuck a impact vest into a seat harness or will it just pull out after a while . Would like to be able to conceal the bottom part of the vest so it's out of the way , thanx

Short answer is it will pull out and the vest will ride up and choke you.

I used to wear a vest under a Dakine Fusion harness. The vest had a little elastic draw-string at the bottom and I used to tie the draw-string onto the leg-strap of the harness.

I thought about adding a little webbing straps with buckles to hook onto the leg straps. I just stopped wearing the vest.

North makes one for seat harnesses that buckles to the harness to prevent ride up. Never tried it though.

I have been using an impact vest with seat harnesses for the past to years. I have not experienced a problem so far.

cheers, stefan

I use an Oneill impact vest ( http://www.oneill.com/mens-products.php ... =75&id=270 ) and a DaKine Fusion seat harness. I have the same problem with the impact vest riding up. Probably makes me look like I'm perpetually hunching my shoulders when I ride.... would like to fix it somehow too. No ideas at this point. Been doing that for 4 years.... I just live with it. Definitely worth while to have the impact vest, though. That little bit of flotation works wonders when re-launching, or swimming in.

Unless you are dead set on the seat harness, why not just get the impact vest/harness one piece?

I'm sold on seat harnesses.

Maybe wear the Nitrous? Anyone tried a Nitrous with an impact vest?

I've been wearing Nitrous shorts with a Dakine Slam Vest for a little over a year. Never had any issues with the vest riding up. It fits fairly snug, which likely helps with keeping it from riding up. The only issue I've ever had with this combo is the zipper at the top of the vest sometimes starts to unzip. No big deal though.
