What size for REV?

Postby jzkbnm » Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:14 pm

Hi guys,
could someone advice the right quiver for 75Kg and 138x39 board?
I ride usually in 11-14kn in summer and 15-25 in winter

13 and 9 ?
or 11 and 7 ?

Who tested all these sizes?
Thanks a lot! :bye:

probably a 13 or 15 and a 9 would work the best.

13 and 9!
the 9m great! and the windrange is huge! you dont need the 7m for 25knots max!

I'm also thinking about sizes for the REV. My weight is 85 kg and I have the summer time low-end covered by a FS SilverArrow 19m foil in combination with a large Session41 (141x43).

My attempt is to only have two normal tube kites, so there is again the question if it should be 7-11 or 9-13?

7-11 can not easily be extended and would probably remain a two kite quiver unless a 15m is added at some point, but that would be a big overlap with my foil. I guess the 11m would have to be used 60% of the time and with 20% each for the 7m as well as my foil. Maybe I'm being too optimistic about the frequent use of the 11m and I would probably have to spend some more time on the foil?

9-13 could potentially be extended with a 7m if needed for high wind with 6kts extra in the top-end and for the waves. Assuming now only 10% for my foil, then the 9m and 13m would probably be used 40% each with leaving 10% for a potential 7m or staying safely at home.

When looking at the wind chart for the REV, then it seems like the sweet spots are (center):
15m - 17,5kts - 8,7m7s
13m - 19kts - 9,8m/s
11m - 22kts - 11,3m/s
09m - 25kts - 12,9m/s
07m - 31kts - 15,9m/s

Guess it comes down to how much sweeter the 11m is flying compared to the 13m and how often the 11m would force me to use my foil because of lacking low-end…

:-?

I think 13 and 9 would be the better choice....but
taking for granted that 9 is more exciting than 13, is the 11 more similar to 9 or to 13?

I rode the 9m in 40-50mph on Monday. In the gusts it was tough to ride waves, had the kite CR depowered about 8 inches, and the bar all the way out.

In the lulls I was fine, littttt, but fine...

Tried a demo 11m today in 18-20mph (8-9m/s) and it did work with my Session41 board, but it makes me think that the 13m would have been more appropriate. But the 11m is quick!

PS, not a big fan of the CL... :(
