I beleive that if you are in the EEC everything sold must be fit for purpose. This means that all goods have an implicit warranty of 2 years against manufacturing defects.

So if your kite falls apart because of poor manufacture (e.g. bad stitching on the leading edge) it should be covered...

A search on google will reveal the driective...

From personal experience I can state that Flexifoil, North and Slingshot are very good:

Slingshot Fuel 2004 - The bladder nipples for the one pump system failed on a year old kite and Slingshot UK (GRF) sourced replacements...

North (2006 Rhino) - The logos fell off the kite when it got wet (5 months old) - the kite was replaced with a Vegas 06

Flexifoil - Same bladder problem as slingshot - replaced bladder very promptly[/url]

In the European Union a company has to give 2 years warranty on their products...one year they have to prove you did something wrong, for the second year you have to prove they did something wrong.

On Caution's warranty card it says 3 months. I have never had any warranty issues with my Spitfires and Answer with respect to bladders, material or workmanship. However, in general, I do believe that manufacturers should provide a 6 month warranty period at a minimum.

What about boards? What are the warranties from different manufacturers?

This reminds me of Tommy Boy and his take on warranties/(guarantees.)

Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why do they put a guarantee on a box? Hmm, very interesting.
Ted: I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's how I see it. A guy puts a guarantee on the box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside.
Ted: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Ya think if you leave that box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter.
Ted: What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the Guarantee Fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy, but we're not buying it. Next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I seen it a hundred times.
Ted: But why do they put a guarantee on the box then?
Tommy: Because they know all they solda ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is. Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for right now, for your sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality item from me.
Ted: Hmm. Okay, I'll buy from you.
:)

In other words, the warranty is only as good as the company's ethic toward honoring it, at least here in the U.S., that's what I have seen.

Scott has it right.

your stated warranty means jack, it's how you treat the guys who are outside of warranty that really counts....
