Kiting in Cozumel

Postby The Jess-Man » Thu Dec 20, 2007 5:32 pm

Heading to Mexico the end of January first part of February. Last time I was there winds were pretty light but we were on the mainland.

This year were staying on Cozumel on the West side of the island. Just wondering if any one has any experience this time of the year and can tell me what to expect.

Thanks.

J.

Adrian is the man you want to speak to on the island. Great guide, great prices, gracious host, and he has a sweet restaurant on the island. Some of the best food I have had, hands down.

Im sure others will agree. :D

I was there last year around Jan. and rode 4 of 7 days. I opted to go snorkeling on the 5th day of wind cause I was so tired and my back was killing me from holding down a powered kite. That turned out to be a mistake. SIDE NOTE: work out a bit before a kite vacation.

I want to second that. Adrian is the man. I also loved his restaurant (ask about his kiteboarder discount!) and having him boat us out to a lagoon area. Such an all-around great guy!

I can't wait to bring my Freakdog Unleashed to Coz. She loves to travel.

Cozumel is a great kiting destination with turquoise flat water on the west side and fun rolling Caribbean swell on the east side. The locals are freindly, which has allready been discussed. Adrians restaurant is great , but you also have many more to choose from.

We have a spot for rent right on the kiting beach in the Country Club area that has availability if anyone is looking. Here is a link http://cozumelislandcondo.com/Home.html

Have your coffee and watch the wind come up!

yeah, man, look up A for your needs on the island, great integrity and his local info is very useful. cozumel is a great VACATION destination.

on the downside, coz is not a first rate KITESURF location, although if you have other interests for the inevitable low-wind days, and do not mind switching gears when the winds are light, you should have a good time. plan on about 30-50% kiteable days and you will not be dissapointed.
