RRD Poison board - what size?

Postby Dr_Rosen » Sat Feb 16, 2008 6:39 pm

Looking at the RRD Poison boards. What sizes would be the one for a 90-95 kg rider for high/medium winds..... 9 m/sec (18 knots) and up?

I think it depends how big a kite and how powered up you ride. Also the water conditions, etc.
I can see any of those boards from the 40 and up working, depending on the conditions.
It's really not as straightforward as you might think. A lot of it depends on your style.
Also depends if you are going to have a dedicated "nuking" board or make just one work for 18 plus.
I have a board I ride in anything over 13 knots. My "style" is that I want my board to work in as much as possible :) But some guys have a dedicated nuke board, then wave board, etc.

I would just call and talk with Evan. He knows what he is talking about and is a good guy.
Give him some of the variables and he will give you good advice.
Extreme kites may or may not have info for you, as well.

Just seems some guys are going a little wider these days?
I have a Nobile 555 136x40 cm that I have been very satisfied with, but wonder if I should go 1-2 cm wider on my next board.......

The 08 134x41 555 would be perfect for you then...
Poison? Yep, one of the best boards from Thailand, but if you want that style of board, try a 666 first. Honestly.

So Rsoul you campare the poison bard to the stiffness and style of the 666

IS the RRD 5x camparable to the 555

I personally am looking for a board that rides like a cadillac through chop.

Dr_Rosen, for your size, I would go with the Poison 132x41 or 133x42. I have a friend about your size that rides the 132x41 and loves it. I ride the 131x40 at 83 kgs. Also the board works great in a good range of winds from about 15knots to 25-30knots or more no problem when I am riding my type9 or hyper2 kites. The board is very smooth riding, great upwind, and awesome pop. I also have the 2007 666 board which I rode last year some and I like this year's Poison much better.

I was thinking 41/42 in absence of any more info as well, if it matters. :)

Cool. Is that CF really 49 wide? That's getting pretty big!
