Yes , i still the line on the kite Attach, but be careful , if you do this , DO NOT put the bar in the Kite and roll everything after, if you do this , you can broke the Canopy of the kite.

So yes , my lines still attach on the kite, but i alway put the bar out of the bag..

Bye wave :-)

I like to leave mine attached for quicker rigging and safety. If your lines are attached and you rig from downwind you can walk out your lines and hold up the bar and see that your lines are clear. When rolling up your lines I get downwind of my kite clear my lines and then rool up to one side of the kite walk around the front and flip kite over and then most important use the velcro tab on one of the valves and put your lines in there to keep your bar from going through and getting a tangle. Leave enough slack to keep your bar on the outside of your kite so as not to poke holes in your kite with the bar. If you do this over a long period of time it is mandatory to loosen and retie your nots so they don't wear in the same place. I think this process is the best, Because you get to double check your lines before launching EVERY TIME. Most accidents happen from launching! I also have a bar for every kite so I can leave them attached. I am not an iko instructor but I have kited a long time and this is only my opnion! good luck!

To panchito:

Hi,
Do you use all of 5 on everyday basis? What is your kite quiver and what for is each of the kites?

Really interesting!

Yup. The kite won't fit in the bag otherwise (don't have space in the truck to leave the struts inflated).

No... most of the time i use one kite per session ... but then ... kiting around Tarifa you need to cover from nothing to nuclear winds ..

My 3 Edges ( 7/9/11 ) are for jumping ...

the 9m light for those days with waves or heavy choppy ( hard to jump anyway )

and my 5m light is for our nuclear winds .. ( hella fun kite !!)

I used to keep hem rigged but don’t do it anymore.

Why Rigged:
Takes less time to unroll and set up the kite before take off.
Why not: Takes more time and its little more difficult to roll and pack everything when its all connected. If you use this method you have to pack and put in the bag immediately otherwise it is a pain to handle the gear. Once in the bag it does not matter.

I don’t do it anymore. Not worth the trouble. Only saves a few minutes on rollup.

A tip for setup time: Connect the lines to the kite before you unroll them from the bar. When you untangle the lines, do it in two steps. First two outer lines, then two inner lines. You may have to walk twice up and down the lines, but this is a very simple process that never creates the mega tangles that I always see on the beach and the time is very predictable.

On packing, roll the lines when they are still connected to the kite, and disconnect only at the end. Don’t disconnect the lines before rolling. It will keep them straight on the bar and also off the bar next session.

This IMO makes leaving the kite connected to the bar not necessary anymore.

Anyway walking 80 feet x 2 never hurt anyone :)

Yes, I untie the bar from the kite after every session.

Why? I have one bar and 3 kites. Never sure which kite I will use the next time.
