2008 Nobile foot pads

Postby Oooops » Thu Apr 03, 2008 1:52 am

I'm thinking about trading in my 2007 666 for a 2008. Supposedly offers softer landings and less spray in the face while riding in chop. Correct? I like the 07 board but find the foot pads very slippery. The 2008 pads look the same. Do they offer any more grip?

I hate to break it to you but the 666 08' models don't handle chop well at all. I'm currently riding the 132 x 41 and get sprayed in the face quite a bit. My local dealer has told me that you're supposed to put spacers in between the fins and the board, and should normally ride a board bigger than you're used to, to curb the spray a little.

We ride in messy conditions a lot, and i've been somewhat put off by this board in anything but flat water. Perhaps if you test one first before you buy, you'll wind up making a more informed choice.

Oh yes, and the footpads rock!!

well I have the opposite opinion on the board and pads:

I (78kg) ride the 132x41 08 as well and I think the board handles the chop suprisingly well; it's softer than the 07 and is easier to ride. I've ridden the board in quite messy chop over 30 knots (real knots) and was suprised by the comfortability level it provided.

The pads are another story though, I changed them to Best Hover pads which are awesome!

Hourses for courses and so forth :jump:

i went from a local 126x37, to a 128x38(ish) nobile 555 07.

now riding a 134x41 08 555 and love it. much better than any board ive ever ridden. I rode my old 126 board today and it just felt so wrong. fins coming off and its becoming a slider board

I have a '07 666 143 EXT and a '07 555 135. Love them both and would buy again. No spray problems with either and I do not use the fin spacers. Foot straps.... no problem adjusting them but I don't think my feet stay in as well as my Liquid Force of JL straps - and not quite as comfortable as those too. Not really bad in my opinion but not the greatest either.

I have the 2007 666 132 and have allot of spray in the face, I lost the spacers and never tried them. Can anyone comment if the spacers actually make a difference for spray ? I love the board but only use it on the flats due to the spray (Im 200 lbs)

I also hated the pads and straps - swaped them out to the Caution Pads and NSI ratchets with Raptor heel straps

Hi,
Rode 666 129 and 132 - both great boards. Freestyle boards always nandle chop like that and that`s the tradeoff of having board with good pop /unhook and load/ whichever brand you choose.
Pads and straps are comfy enough but on the 129 /2007/ the upper side of the pads came off already.
Yes, the 666 sprays a little but after few seshs I found the way to handle it.
So, I find the 666 great boards overall...
My board is from different brand.

I've ridden my Shinn with and without the spacers. It makes the ride a little softer but doesn't effect the spray.
