That was a GREAT no bullshit response, Shy. Thanks! :thumb: A breath of fresh air for sure.

There is a time to pamper and market something that appeals to everybody, and there is a time to just be honest and say "Here's who we designed this kite for, if that's you, you'll be stoked. If not, buy a different kite." Loved it!

Nah the deal was that it was coming without the 5th line tab , but now it is not. If it turns out no one seems to need it this year then sure - take it off next year, simple, but experience has shown so far that a 5th line tab on a kite is very useful and safe.

There is nothing new about a front-line safety system, whatever fancy name you give it and it is never as save and easy as a 5th. But when you want to use the kite as a 4 liner, it is nice to have.

I don't know what the big deal is about,... This kite is gonna rock which ever way you fly it.

There will be a 5th line tab to run it 5 line but you will have to mod it yourself. No biggie...

Or

You can run it 4-line with legit safety... Its meant to run 4 line so its gonna be solid even if you don't put a 5th line on it.

Its that simple.

Update:

Ruben Lenten 4 line Pro bar will be running 20M lines
Stock Direct Drive "Center Safety System" 4 line bar will be running 23M

Bozo wrote:so Slingshot's Center Safety System is basically like Cabrinha's IDS system, alowing for 5th line characteristics on 4 lines, except now it works on C-kites too?

Cool, can someone show/explain how it works?

When i get back to work on Monday i will post some photos of the CSS. But if you do a search for REV bar, Rev Kite, or CSS bar you should be able to find some detailed photos of the system, in which it will make much more sense in how it works. Super clean...

Till Monday Cheers!

I think a lot of you guys are looking at this kite in the wrong context. you are trying to figure out the fuel based on the last innovation to a pure c-kite, which was basically the 5th line. With all the development and advancements that have happened over the the last 2-3 years, and with the innovations that SS and other mfgs have tested and introduced since, don't you think they might have thought this "stuff " out through and through?

Do we want to swim like hell towards our kites anymore now that we're spoiled? hell no! I'm sure SS, just like their other products, has worked hard to keep all the great attributes of the Fuel that keep riders loyal to and demanding the kite, while working on new innovations using current tech as a launching pad.

I think the fuss was about not having the $2 5th line tab sewn onto the 2009 fuel, and the fact that the impression was originally given here by Slingshot that if you needed this 5th line tab sewn on, you should be riding a revbow due to being a wimp.

no hard feelings, but no not all developments in our sport have had the desired results of those who 'thought it through'. there are still a lot of gimmicks and mistakes being made in designs in this industry. pretty normal as we are still a young sport. nothing wrong with a little skepticism in between all the hyping.

fuels have not changed all THAT much over the past few years. why change a winner you could say. looks like a lot has changed for the 09 model. really looking forward to trying it. could have used a 5m today.. 40kn (gusts) on my shortlined 7m fuel spanked me pretty hard..

@shymac

Why not ad a section on the homepage with problems/solutions, modifications and tips from the end users?

One thing that I wonder about is which part of the kite is the weakest if you are brining it out with stronger lines? Still the lines (not talking worn lines) or chicken loop or attachment on the kite?
