for 2009 the thruster does the following:

Relaunches much better
More stability
better pop off the water-easier to load and jump.

Everything else is about the same- everyone loved this kite for 2008 so we just did a few things to make it even better.

Like Dimitri said the 2009 Nano is totally different, I really really like the 2009 Nano perfect all round kite that does it all.

The KIMA is a SICK kite in the waves- you just have to try it.

better pop off the water-easier to load and jump.
Can you explain what exactly this means? I never understand when people talk about "pop" with regards to the kite. Kites may yank you off the water, but they don't provide "pop" as I understand it. Boards provide pop, that I understand. "Pop" to me refers to something that is quick, like the pop from a good board. There is nothing about a kite that gives me that same distinct moment in time. A kite 'pulls.' It's more of a continuous power, not all at once. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. School me please. :)

What features of a kite make it easier to load and jump? More depower? Flying further forward in the window? Less perceived bar pressure?

You are correct the board will give you a better "POP". Now what we mean from the kite giving you a better pop is that last minute feel of getting lift upward. This is because of the kite Flying further forward in the window then the 2008, not much but enough to bite that edge for a better slingshot.

Thanks Dimitri!
A quick, honest response that actually answered my questions. A nice reminder why I 'pimp' my Eclipse kites around the beach! (not that I needed a reminder)

Will this help for unhooked tricks?

Yeah I agree with HH... to get load and pop you want your kite to sit back in the window more and NOT start to fly forward in the window. Let's get real here, these kites are not meant for powered shit.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that Eclipse redesigned the Nano, it makes me wonder what was wrong with the 2008 model to need such a major redesign. I know the Kima kind of replaces some of the features of the Nano but last years kite was advertised as an entry level / wave / wake kite. I have had some tuning issues mostly due to my lack of experience but I think also due to the characteristics of the kite that make it so good for the surf until your lines go slack.

Now I want the 2009 :angryfire: and won't be happy with my virtually new 2008 quiver.

Nice one guys. Now how do I talk the boss into allowing me to get a new quiver :argue: ?

Cheers
Rich :bye:
