I rode on Dec 28th and 2 weeks ago. The water is a steady 35F. Once the air pops up to 45F its doable with my NPX 6/5 here in NYC.

I have been out on the snow over 80 days this winter. I will be back on the water when the snow has melted and Leaves are green.

Until then..I am happy.

Was out yesterday here in Newport RI w/two other buddies, I wore a 5:4 winter suit, 7mm boots and 3mm gloves, my buds wore drysuits.

Water temps up here are 38 to low 40's this time of year, I really don't go unless it's over 40 air temp, being sunny helps a lot also.

On the water twice already in February on the southern great lakes (L. Ontario). :thumb:

Early March is when we start to get warmer weather usually. Water is still very cold. Only for experienced kiters....

Was out two weekends ago on a Maryland coastal bay without booties or gloves..Very warm day.

Last Sunday and Monday kited Hatteras.

Later this week looks good for a Maryland sess.

yeah.. i have to second all the above..was able to get out on 2/11.. Nice day for a 12M kite + 128 board, even if just for an hour or so ...air temps were in the 60's + water temps in low 40's. I'm just being a little more selective in the days I go, but it's very do-able with right dry/wetsuit + weather conditions. And, things are looking up..March is right around the corner.. the hours of sunlight are increasing. The Spring weather patterns are near..that means ...soon.. it's :thumb: thermal time

I have had 8 water sessions so far this year on Cape Cod and for the first time have kited every weekend both days for the month of February.6/5/4 wetsuit,5mil boots and 3 mil ocean rodeo coldfire gloves.By far the best gloves I have ever used kiting. Can't wait to be rid of all the rubber though. :thumb:

You can probably get away without for a short sesh .I am in my 1.5 mil gloves just to keep the edge off.temps have been so up and down though.Any southerly winds and I think you def go without gloves for a while.
