Does the thruster have the bottom end compared to the griffin .I think the 12 griffin has got more low end compared to the 12 thruster. i love the thrusters but dont think the bottom end is good. Is this because it is a hybrid? This kite is mainly for my trip to Bali where the wind is only about 12 knots. Today i was out on the 12 in 12 knots really struggling(80kilos and 138 by39 board). The Cab switchblades were going no problems.

A bigger lightwind board will make more difference than a bigger kite regarding planning and going upwind in light wind.

I have noticed Cabrinha kites to often be bigger than kites from other brands for a given size, that is perhaps the reason why they seem to have such low end ...

Don't know about the 14m Griffin, but why not go for the 16m THRUSTER instead. The kite is so fast and responsive it flies like a 12m Cabrinha.

Go with the Griffin. It has the most low end of any kite that I have flown. My 15m has more low end then a 16m Rhino, not alot more but it has more. I travel often with my gear and I like traveling with more kites than boards. Dollar for dollar the Griffins are the best kite for the money. The 09's are faster than the older (monkeys), they have several improved features. Go for a demo then go from there.

I just rode my 16m Thruster on Saturday in variable winds. I'm 225lbs (102kg).

It was 16kts or so when I was riding on a twin tip. Very comfortable.
Then the wind dropped to 12 or 13kts. My pal was on his 14m Vegas at 165lbs (75kg), and he couldn't stay up wind. I hopped on my surfboard and was making it happen.

Then an hour later it was steady 18 with gusts of 27kts or so. I don't know how much more breeze I could handle. My guess is about none or right around there.

Every kite has pro's and con's.
I've had other 16m kites that could take a little more wind, but I'd rather switch to my 12 anyway.
The Thruster has good low end because it can be worked. It's fast for it's size for sure. But, if the 14m is faster, could it generate almost the same low end?
As most people know, (and the reason I got it) it boosts huge! WAY bigger than my old kites including the REV and Havoc II. I got the 16m size for more float, and it's there. So sweet.

Don't read too much into this, I've had th ekite for 48 hours and yesterday wasn't windy.

How big are you? A buddy of mine is about my size and he went with the 14.
