Spleene Door

Postby HypeTheKite » Thu Jul 09, 2009 5:43 am

After hearing everyone's feedback Im really liking the Spleene Door's. Although I dont like spending the money I think Im going to pick one up. My question is which size. Im in 10-15 winds and weight 225. Will the 159 X 42 be ok or do I need the 164 x 45? I would like to grow with this board and be able to you use it in multiple situations. :naughty:

Just to help you on the sizes.
The 2009 Doors come in two version. High Tech and Fun Tech.
The Fun Tech Door comes in size 160-44
The High Tech Doors come in size 159-45 and 164-50
In previous years there was also a Door 154-42 but we didn't produce this size for 2009.
All of this years Doors get going extremely early but for your weight and if you want to be one of the first ones out I would say go for the HT-DOOR64 (164-50cm).
If you don't want to buy a new one then try and get last years Monsterdoor which was the same size or at least last years Door59 (159-45cm).
Even though an older Door 154-42 would still get going earlier than any other conventional TT, it would be slightly inferior to the larger Doors and for you the larger models will be more suitable.
Just add a smaller, conventional TT to your quiver later and you have everything covered.
With a large Door you double your days on the water and there is still a massive difference between a large Door and a large conventional TT.

you can try also flydoor 170x50, and take a biggest possible, anyway with time you take second small board.
For my 340 in 10-13knts 164x50 is small. kite slingshot rev 15m

164 door is the size to go. Just remember that you will enjoy it mostly in flat water. This is the ultimate upwind rocket.

Thing is what size kite? The Door 159 has more rocker for deeper Chop but not as fast. If you want to jump 64 will get you back upwind faster for sure.

The Fydoor 170x50 would be a great choice too... very slick.... I'll be trying the 170 out soon....

If you don't want to buy a new one then try and get last years Monsterdoor which was the same size or at least last years Door59 (159-45cm).
I had monster door '08, and 4 days ago I got new HT monster door '09.
first 5 minutes on HT i fall maybe 5 times, after that, do ride without any problems.
I ride it for 4 hours and can say that new board better then '08 in:
- upwind ability;
- better lowend, sometimes I dont see the wind, but can move :) ;
- suspension tips is thicker and reliable;
- new pads more adjustable, my foot big enough (12eu) and I adjust pads closest to toeside, 08 don't have this opportunity, very helpful for me, coz when I ride old board, often hit the water with front leg; soft enough, like '08 pads, I try to jump not very high (maybe 3m) and landed slowly, so don't see the difference, just learning jumps;
- when falling from board and board goes in side slide, much more easy to stand up on board without stop.

Hey,

I have the 159 Door and I weigh 230lbs. Great light wind board and one thing I like is it is a little smaller for fitting in bags and car.

Been riding the Door 164... Customer love it... One of the best things is how the foot straps stay open well, easy for beginners to slide feet into... even with boots... Easy for Int-adv to adjust while riding... and buit in screws can never get loose...
