So tandem kiteboarding is not new but for the most part I don’t think is it often planned.
My son really want to ride with me so here is how I did it.

That's a great solution for the footstraps. I've taken my kids kiting on the snowboard like that before (strapless), but never on the water. Once they get much taller than the 6 year old though, they get in the way of the hook and C-loop, so start them early!! 
The only way my kids can ride on the water with me now is hanging on my back, hopefully not strangling me!
