Pro snowboarder and Olympic gold medalist Shawn White was asked whether skateboarding or snowboarding took more talent at the professional level. He answer was skateboarding without a doubt.

Kitesurfing in waves is killer, but what skateboarders like Mark Appleyard, Lance Mountian and Danny Way have done is undeniable.

Those of you that think skaters are just punks have no idea how much commitment and talent it takes to master the sport.

The fact that there are already 3 pages of posts to this thread is pretty weak :o Guess I'm guilty for taking the bait too

How many skateboarders care if their sport is legitimate....
:kiff:

Very Few. It is maybe just the prospect of a sports based product endorsement career that drives this idea "legitimate"..

I give both kiting and skating credit for being hard at top level

I was thinking it could not get any worse when i landed on my nuts doing a handrail years ago - then thought - what about when i got balled kitelooping - pain was on a similar scale lol

Only 14 year old kids care what anyone else thinks about them, i couldn't give a rats ass what anything thinks about anything i do or whether it's cool or not.

for sure i know many older kiters that are still brand obsessed and highly influenced by "pro riders" and will even take the piss if you don't wear shorts over your wetsuit- mind you that was very 2005 lol

i got more interest in the rider that rides all 2001 kit than an average freestyle junkie clone of a pro - mine in bigger than your turns all riders into a bunch of sheep all trying to to do the same thing - sooooo dull

glad to see a few riders around (very few) pushing their own style of riding/thinking for themselves - would like to see more though rather than the thousands of wannabe clones

still no excuse for bad style tho! lol

Funny, when I look around on the water, I see all kind of people having fun while not having a clue about style.

But there are always a few exceptions: the grim faces. Usually the same people that complain about respect and others not understanding the rules and have a rather aggressive attitude.

Now who should we take as an example?
