Best cost/quality ratio at Taiba: Pousada "Estrela do Oriente". It doesn't have a webpage and is located on the left side of the main road that leads to Taiba, one block before the french restaurant and about 2 miles before the village.

well, ryan I hope you got some information that is helpful out of that.
hmattar and others, it's too bad you have to deal with the hassle.
It should be better.
I am not a fan of bureaucrats, in the US or any other place really.
Not that I can do anything about it...

But aeberl you are still just irritating like an insect,
buzzing in to preach at the original poster instead of giving any help.
By the way who cares about what your travel rights are?
I didn't ask so thanks for nothing telling me that.
For what it's worth I hope you are nicer to people in South America, now that you live there.
Otherwise you might run out of continents, if everybody gets sick of you, where will you go?
Already you tried 3 and still it is not perfect, apparently. Good luck. :jump:

Also if anybody knows of cheap places to stay in Paracuru, or Taiba i would love to hear about it.

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryan...I assume you are in Idaho so you have to go through the Brazilian consulate in LA. Unfortunately, this makes things much more difficult and the price will almost certainly be over $280 (try around $700 for everything). Look here for more information: http://www.brazilian-consulate.org/files.php?id=142. You can find a list of agencies that can help you out as well. Good luck!

Stay in line, pay up and stop complaining!
Or, do as I do, just avoid US territorry all toether!

uh yeah so you sound like a jealous prick. I am American and proud of that. From the sounds of your attitude the USA would prefer people like you stay out aways. First off i am not complaining. Please reread my post, As i am not whining at all. I simply want to know what a realistic cost for this Visa Is going to be. Yes it sucks that America is so tight with their visa's. But I am not concerned about that, mostly because i cant change that.
