Liquid Force Golf Bag

Postby raoul » Wed Sep 30, 2009 4:19 am

Who owns a LF golf bag ????

I am looking into purchasing a new bag for traveling with my kite gear.
Trying to keep size/length down to a minimum.

Most bags are 150 or bigger and my board is 128, will maybe be getting a 132 but no bigger.

2 Bags seem to catch my eyes:
- Dakine BTS (like the idea that it can divide to 2 parts, and length is 140)
- Liquid Force Golf Bag (This is the shortest golf bag I have found to suite my needs 140, and it looks good)

Cant seem to find much info about the LF golf bag.
Does anyone own one and can tell me a bit about its real size, construction, weight compared to other golf bags and any other details.
I wish I could find a golf bag 135 long.

Thanks,

Here is a picture of it (looks really nice):

I have the Mystic Golf bag which is 140cm, takes my 135, 12 and 9m kites, bars, pump, harness and wetsuit etc and never given me a problem at check in over the last 3/4 yrs. Some actual golf bags from golf shops can work, I used one 5/6 yrs ago with a 120cm board. Go in a golf shop with a measure to see what you can find.

I have an LF Golf Bag and so far it's done its job perfectly - not only is there loads of room and neat side pockets for fins and tools, I've not heard a squeak out of any of the check-in staff I've come up against at the airport.

The bag has also stood up well despite the baggage handlers best efforts to destroy it, so I'm also happy with how robust it is.

BTW I went for the plaid version on the basis that it looks more like the choice of a golfer than a kiter. However, now that I have the bag in the flesh I have to admit that I think it looks rather neat - maybe there is a golfer lurking in my genes somewhere!

BTW - should have noted that the all up weight easily made the check-in weight allowance (even for a Cape Air flight), despite packing 1 board, 3 kites (1# 15M and 2# 12M), a complete harness, pump, helmet and a cool tool.

check out the Cabrinha Golf (stealth) bag...smallest is 140. I've been using since it was introduced and has held up well. Will hold a 138 Cabrinha Custom with syncs still on the board, 3 kites, harness, impact vest, etc and still come under the 50lb limitation. Easy access to contents as the top totally opens up. Has large pocket inside as well as outside. I've flown on American, United, Continental, Southwest, Alaska, Jet Blue..to places like Maui, Hatteras, SPI, Corpus, Gorge, DR, Miami, San Diego, and LA and never been charged. Even when not asked, or they think there are golf clubs, I volunteer that the bag has kites, and when asked "anything else" I respond beach shit...towel, wetsuit, etc. I'm sure the other bags you are considering will work; I only have entended experience with Cabrinha and know it works if you keep the package under 50lbs for domestic flights. I did use an NSI bag for awhile but it is heavier than the Cabrinha. The Cabrinha is also large enough to get more stuff into it for international flights (70lbs).

Hey emmandkev,
How Heavy is the LF bag? I know that even in my tiny 130 old naish bag I can go over 50 lbs if I really stuff it, so I am concerned that these 140 bags will get to 50 lbs before they are full.

Are there any holddown straps inside or pockets inside?

Thanks

I know you didn't ask, but the Cabrinha bag has tie down straps inside the bag as well as a pocket, and cinch straps of the outside of the bag

Steve,
Do you know what is the weight of the bag alone?

I am a LF distributor, so keep that in mind when reading my opinion. I recently used this plaid LF bag to take 4 boards, 2 kites, 1 harness, and wetsuit, and did not get charged for the bag.

It is about 8 lbs too. It will only fit boards up to 138 cm. Anything bigger and you will have to squeeze it, which will not allow you to get more gear in. It is well made, so I don't think you can wrong with it.
