What most my not realize is the majority of the board is made up of current pro riders and not event hustlers.
There are so many people so desperate to make a buck from this sport they'd put their name on anything if they thought it would help them make 50 cents sometime in the future.

The term "pro rider" is more of a joke then a reality.

The long term business plan of the IKA includes much more then competitive aspects of kitesurfing. They plan on using the competitions as a spring board to make money in other areas.

Anyway all the pro-tours are still a joke.
wow, you must know all details of their future "business" plan! Please explain further, I want to hear it all.

Why do you think the pro tours are a joke? Please explain as well.

Their goals were on their original website which included all sorts of certifications well beyond the pro kite circuit. It was written in plain English that pro-kitesurfing was just their first step. Maybe they've scaled back their public goals but I'm not going to believe it's still not part of their business model. They stupidly let their evil goals out. Not me.

Pro-kitesurfer = joke. Simply because ALMOST none of them are making any real money. Making money is the definition of pro. Hell most of them don't even get their kites for free and a lot of non-pro riders are better then the pros.

Tell me, how is the IKA world champion any more legitimate then the PKRA world champion?

like in every other sport...

It is a small sport, hard to get lots of money in. Plus they are making the events less attractive (who wants to see a low mobe?).

So, in 2010 we will see if things changed. Good things need to grow, so let's be patient.

BTW - "business model" might be the wrong word for an organization? And don't forget, there are committees of riders etc who influence/guide the IKA.

Actually many people think that this is positive press.

It is so easy to complain about anything, but it’s a bit harder to create something constructive. That’s why most of people gives advices and do not do anything themselves.

Superstroke - I wish you to make 100 cents. Good luck :thumb:

Like Nike says: just do it

BraCuru: well said.

Everyone complaining here could do something, but they don't? Costs time and money and no income for one selves?

The IKA cannot go anywhere alone. And their goal is to go the way the best for the majority. So, give them time to get things straighten out, and if it does not work after a while, the kiteboarding world is strong enough to go another way.
And so far it does not really concern anyone on here about what is going on, since it is the pro riders who are the target group if talking about events.

What is the exact definition of "national members".
Basically, who are the right to go to this thing ?
