What's the best 7-9m kite for unhooking?

Postby kiterfighter » Sat Oct 24, 2009 8:17 pm

I need to know what your favorites are. I am looking at: Best NXG, Eclipse Nano or Kima, Swithcblade 3. Experience with these?

Any others I should consider?

Best NXG is meant for that style of riding and is supposed to unreal in those sizes. It is basically a C kite with depower, the shape is fully c, and for me, C kites in smaller sizes are much more fun than bow and hybrid shapes. Its going to be the most fun out of all those. Don't get an eclipse.. they're in the toilet.

The Liquid force range is also worth checking out. If you are looking for bridled kites rather than c kites have a look at the Havoc and Envy, both really nice kites and great for unhooking.

I tried the an Envy or for the time on the water today and its awesome, what I enjoyed the most is the fact that is doesnt feel like a bridled kite, its very direct and responsive. Deep canopy so it is grunty and sits back nicely for unhooking, you can get the bar really slack and the kite is so stable that it sits there waiting for you. Build quality is amazing, so much re-enforcement and buffers all over the place.
I had the Havoc there to try out but didnt get a chance. My bro tried it a few days ago and said it was awesome for wakestyle, you can get really slack lines.

Tried the NXG aswell and it is no way as good a kite, no feel through the bar at all, no grunt, sluggish and stalls in the loops, its good for big air and thats it.

Best NXG is an SLE is it not?

Anyway, try a Fuel. 9m rocks. Try as many different kites as you can. Beg borrow & steal.
