I bought the necessary Pipe fittings and laid them out to fit a stack of 3 33" X 22" kite bags....Your design may vary. My first try using 1 1/2" pipe was heavy and going to be all fittings and hardly any pipe...

So back to Home Cheapo and exchanged everything for 1" pipe. Laid it out on the ground with my penciled 33" x 20" box to imagine what the base will be...Then I started cut some pipe...

A kite buggy with wheelbarrow tires won't go through soft sand:

Get wide tires if you can if you will be going through soft sand.

If you build something out of PVC pipes use the gray ones( electrical ) they are much stronger.

I used a cheap plastic sled one day this summer. Cooler, chairs, etc, easily 30 plus pounds .
I was surprised how well it slid on sand, board walk , and even a little parking lot.

Thanks for the PVC and tire advice. Your probably right but I want to see how well these $4 tires will work. Continuing:

I built the lower frame and glued it. Some advice, put the frame together carefully. The glue sets very quick in 2 - 5 seconds. I made a lot of mistakes in measuring but compounded those mistakes by gluing fittings incorrectly because the glue sets so quickly, A few times I couldn't #1 put the pipe all the way into the fitting or #2 I couldn't adjust the fitting to the right angle in time before the glue sets rock solid. Once it sets, it's a permanent bond much like plastic melting onto plastic.

Glued the frame together and ran the axle through the "T" fittings. Then marked and cut the axles to size.

Lower "T" drilled with a 5/8" drill bit to allow the 5/8" stainless steel axle through (later I found out this was a mistake)

Test fit the tires.

I had to wiggle the 5/8" drill bit into the holes a bit to allow the axle to get through freely

When I test fit the gear, I realized the first mistake. The board holders were too low and the board were interfering with the tires...This would leave nasty rub marks on the boards and cause friction when rolling.

...so I gave the whole lower frame a 3" lift...

Added 4" pipe to the bottom of the "T" fitting to get 3" of lift...

Test fit was good. Added the rest of the frame (no glue so I can take it apart for storage). Added the 3/4" pvc with screw on fitting to support the boards and some insulation foam (which is too thin). I made a simple handle out of 3/4" pipe and a cotter pin and pretty much done!

Looks pretty good , let us know how it works out.

When you glue joints are you using a primer? If you get both parts wet with primer you should have close to 30 seconds before it sets.
