Hi, Karibu

I used to live in Dar for 3.5 yrs, wind not the best but can still be fun. I weight around 85 kgs and rode a 12m most of the winter , every now and again got to ride my 9m. Seasons are end of December to end of February, winds are from the north aveage of 15-17 knots, it then dies until May and blows most days , between 15 and 20 k. Dar can be very erratic though and sometimes inconsistant. There was a group of kiters there kiting at Kawe Beach most afternoons and weekends , kited there a couple of weeks ago and group has got smaller now, but still 5 or so guys around. Zanzibar is a 20 minute flight away,( this is where I am and is better) , has stronger winds and better conditions, flats and waves . Winter you ride a mix of 9m and 12m's but it can also be a bi inconsistant and frustrating at times like the most of East Africa. You can mail me on bcbob1@yahoo.com once you get to Dar and I will put you in contact with some of the local kiter's, cheers Brett

Hi

Arrived recently in Dar and went yesterday to kipepeo for the first time. it was great. In the morning i went to kim beach next to kipepeo. Flat water. In the afternoon went to kipepeo. had good wind and some waves. Next time i will go with a wave board. Was on 12 meter on twintip. on a waveboard a 10 should be ok. Wind was from 14 - 18 knots as forecasted on http://www.windalert.com/spot/62888

so check the forecast and with 12 you should be ok

let me know if you go we might meet up if wind is good
