2009 Evo or RPM?

Postby Chriskef » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:12 am

Which is best for freeriding, jumping, some freestyle? No waves & some, but nothing too advanced unhooked. Would a 12m EVO 2009 share the same low end with RPM 14m? 95kg rider from 14knots.

Thanks

RPM, taught on the EVO last year and the 12 sucks. 9 and 6 are amazing but 12m+ have different bridles and they suck. RPM is a nice, responsive kite.

Weighting 90Kgs, i found 2009 EVO 14 is perfect for my freestyle tricks, in winds from 11 to 23 Knots.

Never rode the RPM, but i listen good report about it.

Chriskef,... if there's anyway you can get your hands on a new 2010 Evo 12m you'll never regret it.
Much faster, perkier, with less of that grunty feeling the 09's had. Light weight, terrific bottom end and easy relaunch in light winds............. you gotta love it............

Totally different kites. RPM is my favorite for it's grunty pull and c like characteristics especially when unhooking. What kite doesn't relaunch these days? you can even get a 4 line fuel to relaunch like it's nothing now.

Thanks for your posts. Don Lester, would love to try the EVO, but there isn't such a thing as a demo kite here on our small island.

I've been offered a good deal on a 2009 14m Vegas, which will probably work for me. I've also located a used 14m EVO 2009. My common sense says go for the EVO - it's practical, easy re-launch, 4 lines, great low end. But, I have to say my heart says Vegas.

Yes totaly different kites. The EVO has grunty pull and is very stable for unhooked tricks, I've tried the RPM 2009 12 and found it more flying on it's own, not very good feedback on the bar, not amazing lowend for that size and not as quick as the EVO.
What kite does not relaunch these days? For example Ion 4, althoug a very good kite once in the air.

yes the two kites both the Slingshot RPM 2010 kite and the North Evo 2010 Kite if your looking for a kite that will be perfect for any newbie then the North evo will be perfect but remember this you may out grow the kite and then if you like the North kiteboarding brand go for something like a North Rebel 2010 Kite or if you want a kite that you will grow into not out of the the Slingshot RPM is very good however it is a "freestyle kite" so aimed at unhooking tricks and kiteloops etc..The RPM will still be super stable and re launch off the water with ease as will the North Evo.. for me i think the Slingshot build quality is a better than the North but thats just what i think... have fun and what ever kite you get your be more than happy with..
